People ask us why not just use the local auction house or send it off to one of the many postal services/dealers that are advertised everywhere? Here are just a few reasons why:


Postal services:

  • Unlike postal services, we give you a friendly, helpful and personal face to face service. This will help you to decide the best way to maximise the value of your preciouse items.
  • When you sell to us, there is no risk to your items getting lost in the post or suddenly not being worth what you were originally quoted because “the gold or silver price has unfortunately gone down” or “they were not all made of precious metals as you thought”. 
  • With most postal companies, you have to pay to get your items back if you are not happy with their quote. 
  • You need to build in the time and cost of sorting and packing everything up, and the journey to the nearest Post Office, it all adds to the cost, hassle and stress.


Auctions:

  • When you sell to us, you avoid the huge auction fees, you will have to pay up to 30%(including VAT) in fees on everything you sell at auction. They also charge a fee per lot which can be anything up to £8.00. 
  • Selling precious metals at auction is not always the best place for selling these types of items because it is dealers trying to buy them and they need to buy well below the scrap value because of the auction fees.
  • You need to pack everything up safely and arrage transport to your nearest auction house (your time and money). 
  • Most auction houses will charge a sizeable transport fee if you need your items picked up from your property.
  • We do recommend selling certain rarer specialist  items at auction, such as porcelain, artwork and collectables, we will always advise the best solution for you.
